Carpet in the dining room and living room - what to pay attention to?
The living room and dining room are places where we spend a lot of time, so it is extremely important to choose a rug for them based not only on visual considerations, but above all on practical ones. Textiles present in the dining room are very often exposed to splashes and contact with food - the ideal solution will be a rug made of artificial fiber, which is easy to keep clean and resistant to various types of dirt. When choosing a rug under the table, it is also worth considering its shape, which should be similar to the shape of the table - the ideal model should protrude on each side by about 100 centimeters.
In the case of a living room, it is worth considering the square footage of the room and its functions. If you want to optically enlarge it, choose rugs in light, uniform colors. Sometimes, the living room also serves as a playroom or a workplace - to separate each of these zones, it is better to choose several smaller rugs in a similar color range.
How to choose a carpet for the bedroom and toddler's room?
People sleep for almost half of their lives - that's what statistics say. In a room where we often not only sleep, but also relax after a hard day, comfort is of paramount importance. When choosing a bedroom carpet, it is worth being guided by a pleasant-to-touch texture - models with long pile work perfectly in this role, they are soft, perfectly muffle sounds and effectively insulate from the cold floor. The ideal carpet should draw attention to the central place in the bedroom, i.e. the bed - the margin on both sides should be about 50 centimeters.
Looking for a trendy rug for your child's room? When choosing a model for a child's room, it is worth avoiding white textiles due to the fact that stains and dirt quickly appear on light colors. In this case, it is also worth choosing a rug with a short pile that is easy to clean - models made of synthetic materials are also great for allergy sufferers. Wool and cotton are definitely a bad choice!
Interior style and textile selection
When shopping, it is worth knowing what to look for. In the case of rugs, it is good to be guided by several criteria - one of them is the style of the interior. In rooms decorated in a classic style, single-colour rugs and models inspired by the Orient will work great - the latter have been a real hit for several seasons! Owners of a living room or bedroom in a modern style will certainly like rugs with geometric patterns, models imitating the appearance of natural marble and textiles referring to plant motifs, for example palm leaves from the Amazon jungle.
In a Scandinavian-style interior, rugs in various shades of gray and the absolute hit of this season, ombre rugs, will look great. In the case of a living room or bedroom in the boho style, it is worth considering choosing a patchwork model, which will give the interior a unique, homely character.
Choosing a carpet for your home - some practical tips
Many people choose carpets whose size, color or texture do not match a specific interior. These are sometimes trivial mistakes that can be avoided by following a few simple rules. Here are the most important ones:
- Long pile rugs, including shaggy models, are definitely better suited for areas with less traffic, such as bedrooms. In high-traffic areas, it is worth choosing a short pile rug.
- The carpet should extend beyond the furniture - a model that is too small will disturb the proportions of the interior and will be impractical, especially when placed under the furniture.
- The shade of the carpet should be matched to the shade of the floor based on contrasts. On a light floor, we lay a slightly darker carpet and vice versa - on a dark floor, a model in a lighter shade.
- The shape of the carpet is also of great importance - rectangular models optically lengthen the space, oval carpets look great in square rooms, while models with irregular shapes are used only in large interiors.
