Modern Scandinavian style - interior design
The Scandinavian interior style has become so popular that it is taken into account not only when designing the interiors of houses or apartments, but also when arranging clubs, restaurants, rooms or other facilities. Certainly, few people know its beginnings, so it is worth stopping for a moment at its history, which dates back a hundred years and is associated with the Swedish painter Carl Larsson, who immortalized the lives of the inhabitants of Scandinavia in his paintings. As we know, the weather in those areas has little to do with hot temperatures. Much more often, the inhabitants of those areas encounter less favorable weather. Therefore, in Scandinavian homes you could not complain about excess light from outside. Nevertheless, the painter gave free rein to his imagination and decided to change this situation, at least in his paintings , in which he presented bright, beautiful Scandinavian interiors .
Functionality first
Such climates were definitely liked in other parts of the world and over time, Larsson's paintings were increasingly modelled, bringing Scandinavian design to life. Scandinavian furniture designer Gregor Paulsson also played a huge role in making this style famous. Scandinavian interior style is distinguished by minimalism, as well as functional solutions, which also become a decorative element. It is important above all that the room contains the necessary objects and furniture that are simply to serve the residents on a daily basis. Simplicity and naturalism play a leading role here. However, this does not mean that a Scandinavian interior plus fashionable accessories in more vivid tones are definitely an inadvisable duo. The situation is completely different. But let's start with colours.
Bright furniture and walls enlivened by colorful accessories
Scandinavian interiors are characterized by spaciousness, the impression of which is additionally enhanced by the use of light colors. White, shades of beige and gray are definitely in the lead. They should appear on the walls and it is also worth betting on furniture in such tones. However, it is also important that the colors used in a Scandinavian-style apartment inevitably refer to nature. However, this cannot happen if we only bet on light colors. That is why it is so important to take into account that the brightness of the walls and furniture is primarily an excellent background for stronger colors, which should also be found in the room in the form of appropriate accessories. Objects in delicate pastels are most welcome. The color of mint, beautiful turquoise, subtle pink, heather or green are also recommended, a little of which can always be an interesting addition.
Gentleness, peace, connection with nature and plenty of space
The modern Scandinavian style of the interior definitely refers to peace. The rooms arranged in it are very cozy, and at the same time have a certain delicacy. This is due to the use of furniture made of wood, which immediately brings to mind nature, and at the same time contributes to the warmth of the living room or bedroom. When decorating an apartment, you can't do without natural fabrics. It is worth considering cotton or linen bedspreads, blankets, rugs, which will beautifully decorate the sofa, armchairs or pouffes . And since we are talking about materials, covering the windows with curtains or net curtains is not necessary, and even inadvisable, because, as we mentioned, the Scandinavian interior should be characterized by brightness, which is also contributed to by completely open windows, on the windowsills of which not even too many decorations are placed. In addition, windows without roller blinds or other types of screens make the living room or kitchen seem much more spacious.
Lamps for Scandinavian style, even in modern versions
If you dream of an eye-pleasing interior design, the Scandinavian style may turn out to be a real hit, because it makes a really huge impression. In order for the room to be properly lit also later in the day and at night, you should also decide on the right lamps. First of all, it is worth considering minimalist versions, i.e. hanging or standing with simple forms. A good choice will be, for example, a round version, supplemented with wooden accessories. There is nothing to stop you from deciding, for example, on a metal lamp or a model that refers to the retro style or has something in common with modernity. Even a lamp with a very original design can successfully fit into the modern Scandinavian style of the interior . Especially since it is associated with eclecticism, i.e. combining elements corresponding to other styles. Therefore, if we dream of having an old retro-style table in our kitchen, it is definitely possible to put it there.
Don't forget about beautiful accessories - photos, rugs or pillows
The modern Scandinavian style of the interior also consists of accessories. However, these are not only necessary night lights or bedspreads. Wooden lanterns, candlesticks or even hangers will also bring a lot of charm to the room. The walls should also not be completely devoid of decorations . Family photos, photos with plant motifs or landscapes , preferably simple, in black and white or calm colors, will work great in this role. It is especially worth creating a kind of interesting collage of photos or pictures that will radically change the room. You can't forget about the carpet , which should not necessarily be in the center of the room. An interesting solution will be provided by deciding on one small or several rectangular single-color or striped rugs . Even more coziness will be added to the whole by pillows, which should absolutely not be missing if we decide on a Scandinavian interior . Thanks to them, the room will gain in coziness, as well as a unique atmosphere.
