Industrial style interior - get inspired
Industrial interiors began to appear in a completely unpredictable way. The recession that hit the United States in the 1950s resulted in a lot of empty, unnecessary halls and factories, which, however, had its small advantage, because if history had not taken such an unfavourable turn, the industrial style, which is extremely popular today, would probably not have emerged to this day. The large post-factory spaces had to be used in some way. And this was the turning point. Deserted buildings turned out to be quite an interesting material for creating practical interiors, the style of which aroused increasing interest over time. Industrial style - what does it mean then? It would be difficult to answer in one sentence. It is associated with both austerity, cold, large and high spaces with large windows, thanks to which the interior becomes very bright, as well as with a unique atmosphere. However, this does not mean that industrial arrangements can only be allowed in post-industrial halls or other large rooms.
Spacious industrial interiors no longer in such a raw form
Industrial-style apartments have become extremely trendy, and this trend is still going strong and there is no indication that it will change anytime soon. It is used in clubs, studio apartments, restaurants and other types of facilities. Yes, its raw style is still leading, but in a slightly more tamed form. Namely, the coldness of large halls has been minimized by intriguing interior solutions and arousing great admiration of accessories that do not lack extravagance. Larger rooms, large windows, high ceilings are still very welcome, but this is not the only option. As we mentioned, even a tiny studio apartment can turn into an industrial-style apartment . To start with, it is worth considering the finishing of the walls. Applying colorful paints or wallpapers is definitely not recommended here. An industrial-style interior inevitably refers to concrete, bricks, stone, so why not decide on a red brick wall, which will become an interesting background for furniture, for example.
Cold walls are a suitable background for more intense accents
However, the excess of red brick is not to everyone's taste. But this is not the only solution, because painting the walls white or grey may be an equally interesting solution. However, not all of them should necessarily be the same colour. It is worth deciding on an industrial interior , for example, in which one of the walls will remain brick, while the others, for example, light grey or graphite. Black also fits in perfectly with the industrial style. Subdued colours simply play first fiddle here. However, this does not mean that they are the only ones to fill the interior in the industrial style . On the contrary, life must also reign in such to some extent cold interiors, which is why raw, unfriendly walls should only be an attractive background for stronger accents.
Paintings, old photos and posters as a way to liven up a space
As mentioned above, an industrial-style interior also requires slightly stronger colors. Beautiful autumn yellow, stronger red or navy blue will work great in this role. It is also worth choosing colors used in the loft style, such as delicate green or subtle blue. Thanks to such colors, the room may even gain a bit of warmth and its atmosphere will certainly change dramatically. The decor of an industrial interior does not have to involve high costs. Sometimes even one picture or poster can contribute to its absolute transformation. For example, photos from old times, photographs of factories, empty spaces or pictures with geometric motifs will work great in this role. Retro posters advertising old movie hits or presenting cities from the past will also look great. When choosing them, it is worth considering frames without decorations, kept in a minimalist tone.
Metal shelves and even externally visible cables are most welcome
Large paintings or posters are all the more advisable because they will fill the empty space and at the same time liven up the industrial interior a bit. Furniture in a minimalist style will play a similar role. They can be made of wood or metal - the possibilities are truly endless. For example, metal shelves on which we can place records or a retro-style radio will be a good solution. A metal shelf will also be most advisable for placing a home library on it. However, this is not all that can surprise, because even pipes will fit into the industrial interior , which should be visible and not carefully hidden in the wall or behind the wardrobe. The reference to an ordinary factory should be immediately noticeable here.
Add a touch of uniqueness to your interior with candlesticks, glass containers and other decorations
What else can make industrial interior design more attractive? Of course, you can't forget about lamps. However, if you like wicker models and you want to decorate an interior in an industrial style , we advise you to give them up in favor of less elegant and homely versions. Here, the best choice will be bare bulbs hanging on white, uncovered cables or lamps in metal, black or gray housings. As we mentioned, the basis of the discussed style is unfriendly, cold walls and large windows. Should the windows be left uncovered? Maybe it is worth deciding on curtains, which, like old furniture, will make the interior an interior with a soul. Smaller industrial elements will also be useful, such as old decorations, candlesticks or colored glass containers, and even beautiful green plants in decorative covers, which you can place on a shelf or window, and larger ones on the floor.
