CLEANING A WOOL RUG

CARE OF A WOOL RUG

1. Vacuum gently with a nozzle without a brush, using short strokes in one direction. Vacuuming with a brush attachment or turbo brush can increase rug shedding and prolong the shedding period.
2. A natural characteristic of wool rugs is "shedding" of wool during the first few months of use. Later, shedding will decrease but may still occur. This is a natural phenomenon where fibers come out of the rug and occurs during the use of wool rugs. Shedding is not a basis for complaint.
3. A characteristic of wool rugs is pilling, i.e., the appearance of small wool balls on the rug surface. This is a natural phenomenon where individual wool fibers are released from the rug due to friction from feet/furniture and clump into balls. This is a normal phenomenon that occurs during the daily use of wool rugs. Pilling is not a basis for complaint. The balls can be removed manually or with a fabric shaver from time to time.
4. Spilled liquids and dirt should be immediately removed with a paper towel or a highly absorbent cloth, then gently clean the soiled area with a clean cloth dampened with a small amount of cold water and plain soap. Do not allow the rug to get soaked.
5. If the rug gets wet, dry it flat in a well-ventilated room or outdoors in favorable weather conditions.
6. Do not use chemical agents or bleaches.
7. To avoid indentations in the pile, periodically move furniture.
8. Exposure of the rug to sunlight may cause the rug to fade. Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight.

GOOD TO KNOW

1. Wool regulates the microclimate in rooms – it absorbs moisture when there is too much and releases it when the air becomes too dry.
2. Wool is naturally resistant to dirt and stains due to its natural lanolin content. The rug will look good for many years with proper care.
3. Handmade braided rugs made of wool fiber are characterized by high flexibility. Rugs may change their shape during use. For example, strong pulling on the rug or moving furniture across the rug may cause it to change its shape. This is a reversible change. Since braided wool products are naturally stretchy, this is a normal phenomenon and is not subject to complaint.
4. Rugs from the Handmade collection are handcrafted, mostly from natural fibers, which is why each one is original and unique. For this reason, there may be slight differences in color, size, or pattern between them. This is not a basis for complaint.
